Canon P Rangefinder Body M39 LTM Leica Mount Serviced Good Shutter

Canon P serial number 716372. If you are looking at this listing, you probably already know the model. The Canon P is one of the most sought-after LTM (M39) rangefinders and is often described as Canon's answer to the Leica M3. The camera has undergone servicing, including cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, and inspection of the main mechanisms. At the time of inspection: • shutter speeds were tested electronically, • fast shutter speeds performed very well for a camera of this age, • the 1/1000s setting operated within acceptable tolerances, which is becoming increasingly uncommon among surviving Canon P bodies, • shutter curtains traveled evenly with no overlap observed, • the first curtain is particularly straight, • the second curtain shows minor dents typical of metal Canon P shutters and without observed effect on operation, • slow speeds operated correctly during testing, • the self-timer function was operational, • the viewfinder is clean and free from the common coating corrosion found on many examples, • the parallax compensation frame moves freely. The camera has also received preventative attention to several well-known Canon P shutter-related issues. Cosmetic condition is good, with only minor signs of use and a few light scratches consistent with age (please see photos). Before shipping, the camera will be carefully inspected once again. In my experience, many of those cameras still require servicing or significant repair work before regular use.
