S SN: 770173 - Selling a legendary manual focus Nikon Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 AI-S lens. This is the highly sought-after version with 8 elements in 8 groups and a close-focus distance of just 0.2m (with CRC system). Serial number 770173 (made in Japan around 1982-1983). Optics: Perfect condition. Clean glass, NO fungus, NO haze, NO scratches. Very minimal internal dust as expected for its age. Aperture: Blades are completely clean, dry, snappy, and free of oil. Cosmetics: Excellent, almost mint condition. Barely any signs of use on the metal body. Mechanical Note (Please Read): The focus ring turns stiff / heavy. It moves all the way from 0.2m to infinity, but the original grease has hardened over time. It needs a basic CLA (Clean, Lubricate, Adjust) / re-greasing to be perfectly smooth again. Selling it AS IS due to the stiff focus ring, reflected in the lower price. Perfect project for a vintage lens enthusiast or service technician!
